1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Soko Mvumo web application, interface, and smart contracts (collectively, the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (the "Terms"). If you do not agree to these terms, do not access or use the Platform. You must be at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements under applicable local laws.

2. Platform Description and Prediction Markets

Soko Mvumo is a decentralized platform that facilitates prediction markets on real-world events. All wagers, wagers, escrow holdings, and payouts are governed directly by Soroban smart contracts deployed on the Stellar blockchain network. Soko Mvumo operates as an interface to interact with these contracts; we do not control the outcome of the markets, nor do we act as a bookmaker or traditional counterparty.

3. Market Resolution & Settlement

Each market is resolved based on specific, predefined verification rules. Once a market resolves according to the smart contract logic, the settlement is final and irreversible. Share redemption values are determined algorithmically based on outcomes. Soko Mvumo reserves the right to manage dispute resolutions off-chain through our administrator multisig keys when contract failures occur or in cases of clear oracle manipulation.

4. Wallet Management & Security

Your account credentials and cryptographic keys are managed via your own independent Stellar wallet (e.g., Albedo, Freighter). Soko Mvumo does not store, hold, or have access to your private recovery phrases or private keys. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all transactions made through your account.

5. M-Pesa Fiat Gateway and Conversions

Soko Mvumo provides a fiat-to-crypto ramp to convert KES (Kenyan Shillings) deposited via Safaricom M-Pesa into Stellar USDC, and vice versa:

  • Conversion Rates: Exchange rates between KES and USDC are calculated dynamically at the time of transaction execution. Fees for conversion may apply and are displayed during the deposit/withdrawal flow.
  • Gateway Liabilities: We are not responsible for transaction delays, failures, or account freezes caused by Safaricom network downtime, M-Pesa API failures, or regulatory limits placed on your mobile wallet.

6. Speculative Risk and Disclaimers

Speculative Nature of Markets

Participation in prediction markets involves substantial speculative risk. You could lose all or a significant portion of your deposited funds. Soko Mvumo does not provide financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. All content, market data, and pricing information on the Platform are provided for informational and prediction purposes only.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to engage in any of the following activities:

  • Market manipulation, wash trading, or coordinated wagers to distort odds.
  • Using automated bots or scripts to query the Platform without API authorization.
  • Attempting to bypass access restrictions or exploit smart contract vulnerabilities.
  • Engaging in Sybil attacks using multiple registration emails or wallets.

8. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Kenya, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nairobi, Kenya.
